At last peace in 1763. The horrors of the heaviest Silesian War, the "Seven Years" are passed by narrowly missing the rich commercial city of Hamburg. That no one had hoped. Now many Pfeffersack must still redeem their vows yet. Even the Hamburg High School, the famous Johanneum, is a sign: The learned professors invite you to a great festival of thanksgiving. You can not splash out and give the famous Telemann a large work commissioned for the occasion, a cantata in German. For if hardly anyone understands the long, Latin ceremonial speeches, the musical entertainment needs but at least conjure up the Auditorium "bang, bomb, sulfur vapor" and the like. Singspiel for ceremonial speech in the auditorium of Gymnasii at the Hamburg Peace Festivals is the title.

This recording is part of the ClassicalMusicStore.co.uk heritage catalogue. The store is no longer trading, but you can find this title — and thousands of other classical and jazz recordings — at a specialist retailer.
