Alun Hoddinott died on March 11th 2008, and this CD collection was the last to be recorded in the composer’s presence and with his invaluable participation. It spans his entire career from one of the first acknowledged compositions right up to one commissioned specially for the recording and its associated concerts which were supported by The Arts Council of Wales. Hoddinott was universally hailed as the genial father-figure of Welsh music, and therefore it is with particular gratitude that we dedicate the disc to his memory.
